frequently asked questions

Q: How do I order from you?

A: Please fill out the form under “contact” with any information pertaining to the cake you would like to order, and I will typically respond in 24 hours. Please keep in mind that during peak seasons (April through September), my response times may be longer due to the volume of orders I have. I can conduct a consultation through email, after which I will give you a sketch of your design and a final quote. You are under no obligation to order if you are not satisfied with either the quote or the design.

Q: What products do you offer?

A: I offer wedding cakes, custom cakes, and decorated rolled cookies. I do not make cupcakes, undecorated cookies, or macarons, but I can offer recommendations for other businesses that do!

***As of April 2021, I no longer accept sculpted cake orders***

Q: How far in advance should I order?

A: For wedding cakes, please contact me at least 4 months in advance to schedule a tasting and design consultation (wedding dates during peak seasons from April through September should begin consultations at least 6 months in advance in order to secure the date). For all other occasions, please contact me at least 4 weeks in advance. This also depends on how quickly we can communicate through email, so please check your email often if you are pressed for time!

Q: What flavors do you have?

A: All of my flavors are seasonal and made from scratch. Please check the “flavors” page for the current menu.

Q: I am only interested in purchasing sugar flowers from you; do you sell your flowers without the cake?

A: Absolutely! I accept custom sugar flower orders for any order size. Please contact me for a consultation at least 2 months in advance.

Q: What are your prices like?

A: Pricing depends mainly on the complexity of the cake design, and sometimes on the flavor or size. I can only give an accurate quote after we have had a consultation, but a typical custom cake runs from $300-$400, and a typical wedding cake can be anywhere from $400 to $2000.

Q: Why can’t you offer prices up front?

A: No two cakes that I make are the same, and therefore the pricing is subject to change depending on the differences in design, flavor, and size. I can offer estimates based on reference photos, but each of my client’s needs are unique, and the price is adjusted to their specific order.

Q: What can I expect from a consultation?

A: Usually my consultations are conducted through email, but they may occasionally require a scheduled video meeting if you would like to speak in real time. I will ask a series of questions pertaining to the theme, serving number, and flavor of your cake, and some general questions about what you would like to see in the design. It’s a very casual process, and I’m more than happy to answer any questions or offer recommendations. After deciding on a theme, I will typically send a digital sketch in 2-3 weeks for you to approve; this is the time to adjust any details on the cake. If you are satisfied, I will offer a quote, and you may choose whether or not you would like to place your order.

Q: Do I need to pay for a cake tasting if I’m considering a wedding cake?

A: For a tasting flight that includes three flavors, I charge a $20 flat fee. The tastings are not free because each tasting is baked to order, and you are paying for fresh, made-from-scratch flavors.

*I am offering remote tastings only! Your cake tasting box will be available for pick up at my studio in Grandview. Please contact me to schedule a date and time.*
